The settling cone is designed for determining settleable matter in water and waste effluent. It is also used to measure sand content in well water. The cone is fully graduated from 0-1000mL: 0-1mL by 0.1mL; 1-10mL by 0.5mL; 10-20mL by 1mL; 20-40mL by 2 mL; 40-100mL by 10mL; 100-500mL by 50mL; 500-1000mL by 100mL.
