SCOPE: This specification covers requirement for schedule 80 CPVC pressure pipe as described in ASTM F-441. MATERIAL: CPVC used is of type 4, grade 1 compound as stated in ASTM D-1784 manufactured by Georg Fischer Harvel. MARKING: Indicates manufacture's name, material designation code, nominal pipe size, schedule size with pressure rating in psi for water 73°F, ASTM designation No. F-441, NSF seal for potable water and manufacture's date code. Schedule 80 pipe can be used with threaded and socket joints. For threaded joints use PTFE tape. Not recommended for use with compressed air or gases. It is lightweight material about 1/6 that of copper, and easy to assemble and install. Job-site erection of a leakproof joint can be made in minutes with solvent cement, or by threading. Pipe lengths can be cut to length quickly and easily with a saw.
