When heated, this tubing shrinks in diameter to provide insulation, abrasion protection, strain relief, identification, and aesthetic appeal. The semi-rigid Kynar® fluoropolymer material exhibits high resistance to solvents, acids, bases, and high temperatures. The tubing is ideal for use where resistance to abrasion and cut-through is critical, in high thermal and harsh environmental applications, or where a low coefficient of friction is required. Because it is extremely tough, it is excellent for strain relief applications. The heat-shrinkable tubing can be flexed, twisted, or repeatedly bent without loss of mechanical or electrical strength. It is translucent, making inspection and identification of covered objects quick and easy. Longitudinal shrinkage is less than 5%. To keep objects that are being covered relatively cool, faster shrinkage at 250°C to 350°C is suggested.
