This sealant is a versatile intumescent product formulated to stop fires, prevent smoke spread, and prevent harmful gases. It seals penetration openings against the spread of fire, smoke, gases, and water, and it is designed to resume the integrity of fire-rated floors and walls when penetrated by plumbing, electrical, and other mechanical items. It provides up to a 4-hour fire rating for typical service penetrations through concrete or wood floors, concrete or masonry walls, and gypsum board walls. It has also been acoustically tested and has demonstrated excellent sound attenuation properties. It can adhere to steel, iron, copper, PVC, CPVC, ABS, PEX, many types of wood, substrates used in ductwork and HVAC, and insulated pipes when used in heating, cooling, and condensation applications (non-porous backing material or coating may slow down drying time). Note: The surface must be clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, grease, oil, mildew, wax, loose paint, frost, and old caulking before application. Do not paint or seal in any way that prevents contact with air until the sealant has dried through completely, and allow it to fully cure before painting with only non-solvent paints. Do not attempt to thin the product. Not intended for water immersion.
